The drive to the family house we're using until the threat of the Koreans is gone, allows me time to clear my head and my emotions; I don't need them to be on my face. It will get them all asking me questions that I don't want to answer.

Getting out of my truck, I look around, making sure that nothing seems out of place or odd. I'm always keeping an eye out to see if they've found the main home. A lot of the people living here are either too old or young. Cian is eighteen, but he's never been amazing with a gun. He might be able to shoot someone, but I don't know if he would be able to kill them the first go if there was a threat. That's why part of me didn't want to move out, but with Hana at the penthouse, I'm having to split my time between them and her, and the enforcing I do once nightfall hits.

I let myself into the house. The great uncles are now up watching their movies. They're all old. None of them well enough to be the head. And the only boy my grandpa had was my dad. The rest of them were girls, and women have never been allowed to lead in our family. I'm pretty sure my aunt Lila could put my enforcing to shame. They're all taught how to fight, but none of them could take over for my dad when he became too ill to run the family.

I pat my grandpa on the shoulder as I pass him. He's sleeping in his recliner, despite the television blasting in his direction. Being in the war as a teen, and then using guns all his life has turned him one step below deaf. He can hear, if you shout directly into his left ear, with his hearing aid turned all the way up.

The scent of boiling potatoes fills the air as I enter the kitchen. Two of my aunts look like they've already started on lunch. It's a few hours off, but they tend to like to eat early around here, as most of them are in bed by seven at night.

I look at my aunt Mary as her tired gaze meets mine. She offers a smile. "You're in early, Sean. Would you like a bite to eat? Lunch should be ready in an hour or so. I think there's leftover sausage in the fridge. I could make you a sandwich with it."

I shake my head and pat my stomach. "I already had breakfast with eggs and sausage before I came over, aunt Mary. But thank you. How's Pops? Is he awake? Do you need me to do anything?" I left out what else I ate. The aunts don't know I have a Korean woman living with me at the penthouse.

She sighs. "He's having trouble sleeping. His body aches are keeping him from getting any rest since yesterday. They've been getting worse and I'm not willing to give him more morphine.
